Now this is really out of control ! For only $5,000.00 you can buy a picture less white and silver Chambers. Someone needs to call the Chambers Police and get this person in order !

I think it was "de-listed"....the lister must have been DEE-lirious thinking five grand was a reasonable price...and not even a pic to entice us...

Darn. I guess we all just missed another golden opportunity to buy a "rare" treasure at fantasy prices!

That said, the Chambers that was just offered by Antique Stoves (in the email so many of us got) actually sold for almost $3800, despite poor restoration work! I couldn't believe they didn't even reporcelain the burners and drip trays. Not impressive at all. For that price, I would expect PERFECTION.

Speaking of things that actually are somewhat rare, did you see that there are now two of the really old models (with the long legs) up for auction? They're pretty neat, especially the one with the Thermodome!!

Well, when I went to the web site to check it out a second time, it said "sold, pending check arrival."

I can't imagine paying that much and having to look at those burners and patched porcelain. It's OK for a few hundred bucks, but not for $3800.

I talked to a guy who did porcelain work for one of the "well-known" restorers, and he said that they did porcelain on the front panel, doors, and backsplash, and HIGH TEMP PAINT on the side panels. They charge thousands of dollars, and they're too cheap to do the whole stove? Ugh.

I missed that one completely....just came back from the junk shops and spent $25 on glass mixing bowls, glass measuring bowls, coolike cutters and spatulas.
